As the old cock crew so the young hen learned..
Amazing the parallels, right down to the “passports for cash” racket instigated by Haughey (Ahern,Mr Turner, and the gambling casino etc)
as you say grotesque bizarre unreal- but not unprecedented.!

There was some more breaking news on Newstalk this lunchtime further linking Ahern and Turner - apparently Ahern told Turner after a number of meetings that it would be no problem to get the law changed to allow his casino plans to go ahead. I’ll post the details and exact quote when I can get the information off the Newstalk site.

Basically, it’s just more of the same though, Bertie says one thing, evidence emerges that proves Bertie’s “story” impossible and Bertie comes up with a new contorsion to try and evade the law.

Haughey’s words of wisdom will come back to haunt Bertie for sure - Charlie stated that he feared Bertie the most as he was most cunning - hmmm….. Pity he isn’t here to see his wisdom unfold - as it will in the end - the wheel always turns - taking its time I know - but it will turn.

Meanwhile Ireland suffers cos of it. What hold does he have on those eejits in the Dail? He is like a Cult Leader - hypnotising his minnions…. or else they haven’t got any back bone of their own. What were the people thinking about when they voted them back last May? We must be the laughing stock of Europe. Fair play to Ian Paisley Jnr. for resigning in NIR - he at least has dignity….

Dev’s legacy, ‘If you are not in, you cannot win’, Born out of begruggery and bitterness this has prevailed down through the ages and has manifested itself through greed, corruption and exclusion of others. Dev may have built his support on the back of mindless followers who, as a result of of eight hundred years of domination, were unable and unfit for the most part, to think for themselves and its quite obvious that Bertie has still got them following, the unfit, unable and apparently unwilling.

This whole situation is SO absurd. Your post strikes as serious for you only. What can we do but make jokes about it?
